On the 17th of April the world’s leading industrial trade show, Hannover Messe, opens its doors. More than 4,000 companies from all over the world will present high tech solutions for the production and energy supply of the future. The interactions of the leading companies in mechanical, electrical and software engineering, as well as from the energy sector, can be experienced here.

Under the motto, ”Experience the Future Today”, R+W Antriebselemente GmbH will be presenting on the new era in drive technology – couplings with integrated sensor technology – live in Hall 5 / Stand A48.

The development of the intelligent coupling system is just getting underway. A new series equipped with sensor technology and innovative power supply and data transmission systems will be presented at HMI.

In the future, in addition to flexible disc and safety couplings, line shafts and rigid flanges, our most popular product, the metal bellows coupling, will also be available with these measuring systems onboard. The most significant improvement represented by this development is the considerably more compact design, with a much shorter overall length than that of previously available intelligent coupling products. Compared with traditional bellows coupling dimensions, only the bore diameters are impacted by the integration of the measurement system. The flexible bellows itself is made with a single convolution at each end, with a smooth center section where the instrumentation resides, making it visually somewhat different from standard bellows couplings.

In addition to providing all of the excellent features of a standard coupling, the intelligent coupling also serves as a wireless measuring system. The integrated sensor technology measures torque, speed, and acceleration, with axial and transverse forces as an additional option, from directly within the rotating drive line. Various options are available for the power supply. In addition to a rechargeable battery or inductive power solution, a new self-sufficient energy harvesting system is also becoming available, allowing for continuous operation with no charging base necessary. This new option is perfect for situations that cannot allow for downtime, and where running cabling to the area where the coupling is located is not possible.

We would be delighted to present the new integrated sensor coupling technology to you in person at HMI. To make an appointment or personal consultation:
