FREIGHT TRANSPORTATION – INDUSTRIAL FREIGHT TRANSPORTATION

Deutsche Bahn transports thousands of passengers and tons of industrial freight daily. The railroad is advantageous as a means of transport particularly for large cargo compared to other means of road transportation, such as trucks. This is most frequently observed in the transport of automobiles with freight cars.

Continuous flexibility of the load volume and height is required for these freight cars. The solution consists of a lifting device used by railroad workers to continuously adjust the loading height using a nut-runner on the cars. This is made possible thanks to gear racks, which move the girders. To protect the gear racks from overload and vibration, a compact R+W safety coupling with vibration damping properties is used. This extends the service life of the racks as well as the bearings in use.
