PRODUCT ANNOUNCEMENT: METAL BELLOWS DRIVE SHAFT WITH CFK INTERMEDIATE SPACER
R+W Coupling Technology has expanded its offering of metal bellows style line shaft couplings to include a new version with CFK intermediate tube spacer (Model ZAL).
Due to its very light weight and low moment of inertia, this backlash free shaft coupling is particularly well suited to operation at high speeds. A special integral tube support transfers the weight of the intermediate spacer to the adjacent coupling hubs, allowing for smooth operation at lengths of up to 6 meters, without any intermediate bearing support required. The fully split clamping hubs allow for easy installation of the entire drive shaft assembly between installed equipment. The two flexible bellows absorb all three types of shaft misalignment (axial, angular, and parallel) while providing exact transmission of angular motion and torque.
The ZAL coupling series is available in seven different body sizes with torque ratings ranging from 10 to 800 Nm. Across this size range, bore diameters (inch or metric) from 5 to 72mm can be accommodated. The exact overall length is customer specified, and supported by proprietary software used to calculate the critical speed, mass, moment of inertia, and torsional stiffness of each unique assembly.
