Freight transportation for industry
Deutsche Bahn transports thousands of passengers and tons of freight daily for industry. The railroad provides an advantage as a means of transport particularly for large cargo compared to other means of road transportation, such as trucks. This is most frequently observed in the use of many freight cars to transport automobiles.
Constant flexibility in the load space and height is required for these freight cars. The solution is a lifting device used by railroad workers to continuously adjust the loading level height using a nutrunner on the cars. This is possible thanks to gear racks, which move the girders. To protect the gear racks from overloads and vibrations, a compact safety coupling by R+W with vibration-damping properties is used. This extends the service life of the racks as well as the bearings used.
