FAQ - Torque Limiters, flexible Shaft Couplings and Line Shafts
Shaft diameter tolerance for good Coupling performance
Q) What is the recommended shaft diameter
tolerance for good coupling performance?
A) The recommended fit for the shaft hubs is a total clearance
of 0.01mm to 0.05mm (or .0004in to .002in). Unless otherwise requested,
the standard tolerance used for the shaft hubs on all R+W flex couplings
and safety clutches is a DIN H7. This is a bore tolerance which has a
lower limit of the actual specification, and an upper limit which is only
slightly larger, varying as a function of the shaft size.
