Shaft diameter tolerance for good Coupling performance

Q) What is the recommended shaft diameter tolerance for good coupling performance?
A) The recommended fit for the shaft hubs is a total clearance of 0.01mm to 0.05mm (or .0004in to .002in). Unless otherwise requested, the standard tolerance used for the shaft hubs on all R+W flex couplings and safety clutches is a DIN H7. This is a bore tolerance which has a lower limit of the actual specification, and an upper limit which is only slightly larger, varying as a function of the shaft size.
