Flexible Shaft Coupler and Line Shafts - FAQ
PT Coupler and Servo Coupler
Q)What
is the difference between a normal PT coupler and a servo coupler?
A) Mechanical couplings
typically provide some flex to compensate for shaft misalignment,
and some torsional compliance to damp shock and vibration.
A result of need for the shaft coupling to flex, paired
with efforts to reduce cost, most pt couplings exhibit
backlash. Servo coupler applications typically require
zero backlash for high rotary positioning accuracy, and
low inertia to assist in rapid acceleration times. Therefore
servo shaft couplers are light weight and exhibit zero backlash.
